The Payment Services Directive (PSD2) refers to a ruling passed in the European Economic Area (EEA) to promote a safer payments environment for merchants and consumers. The directive aims to control rising fraud rates in the region, particularly when a cardholder is not in the physical presence of the merchant (e.g. a guest making an online payment). An important element of PSD2 is the requirement for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)
Inline with the new EU/EEA online payment regulation, we have had to make some changes to how payments work in Metron to be able to support the new secure customer authentication. You may notice that in this new build, when you go to pay for the products and services, you may be asked for some additional information when you confirm your payment details. They may send you a code via SMS which in turn you’ll need to enter into the app to be able to authenticate the cards, or another method of their choosing.
These changes will affect all checkouts, so please make sure that all paying users are aware of the changes in case it affects how they process payments.
As this doesn’t change our checkout flow, but we now require users and clients to create an account first before proceeding with any payments
Whenever you add or create a new payment method, Metron needs to authenticate your cards.
